How to Use

Simply refer to the suggested usage on the reverse of the tub, dissolve your chosen amount of solution into water and apply via watering can or sprayer onto your grass.

Grass Greening

Mix 1-2g of Iron Sulphate per 1L of water. 1L of the solution will cover 1m² of grass.

Turf Hardening

Mix 2-3g of Iron Sulphate per 1L of water. 1L of the solution will cover 1m² of grass.

Please ensure you do not use Iron Sulphate products on hard surfaces as this can cause staining

Please note: Iron Sulphate naturally compacts so this product may require shaking well to loosen clumps. Other brands use clogging agents which can clog sprayers, our formula uses minimal anti-caking agents for a higher concentration of Iron Sulphate. Some compaction is normal but breaks apart easily and fully dissolves without residue and is different from iron that has hardened due to absorbed moisture.

This 1kg tub of Pro-Kleen Iron Sulphate for lawn treatment was very reasonably priced and we found it easy to use. When applied as a moss treatment exercise to our strip of grass at the rate of "2gms dissolved in 1 litre of water per square metre", we found that after several days the grass was visibly greener and the moss was already turning brown in readiness for removal using a small hand rake. We can recommend this product when applied at the solution level mentioned above.

The downside was that the product was open when the postman delivered it. The post office had put it in a bag to safeguard it going everywhere. He offered to return the product but having to wait for a replacement wasn't an option.

carefully spread over the lawn one evening after scarifying ( a little moss collected), the following evening the moss was beginning to blacken, Scarifying, the following day allowed a vast quantity of moss to be collected and removed. So it sure seems to work. Subsequent scarifying still collects lots of dead moss.

Do I need to re water my lawn after applying the solution? Applied yesterday & wondering if I should hose the lawn today?

No, the solution is mixed with warm or tepid water when applied. Do not water down the applied solution be watering the treated area again.

Does this product repair grass burnt in patches by dog urine?

If the grass roots are alive then the grass will harden and go green again. You may also need to reseed the burnt patches.

How often should / can this be used Whether for greening or moss removal?

We would recommend applications 1-2 weeks apart to find the best mixture to suit your lawn soil type. Best to be applied in damp conditions.

Hi. My lawn is fairly green and lush at the moment as I have been using miracle grow fertiliser on it. I was wanting to apply some iron sulphate now to help the grass through the winter months. Is this recommended?

With a concentration of 150 to 200 grams per 100m2, it will also start to ‘harden’ the turf making it more resistant to disease and fungal attack. This is a very common practice on sports turf in late autumn and winter. At this concentration blackening of the moss will start to occur and unless conditions are on the cool side with ground moisture available it may cause some slight but temporary damage to the grass as well. Suggest you only consider applying between September and April when plenty of moisture is available and there is no likelihood of strong sunshine.

Hello. I am going to use this for grass greening so I have a backpack 18 litres do I put in 18 g

The application is Mix 1-2g of Iron Sulphate per 1L of water. 1L of the solution will cover 1m² of grass. So 18-36g per 18l water.

How long should we leave the moss after it’s turned black before scarifying

Once the moss turns black remove from your lawn.

Yes, it is safe to use near pets. However, we would advise you to keep them away from the grass for 12 - 24 hours after application.

Hi can this product be used to treat brown patch in lawns? Or is there something else you highly recommend? My lawn was beautiful and 4 weeks ago brown dead grass patches have started to appear. I’ve tried reseeding but now more are showing. Any advice?

If your lawn is brown due to the extreme hot weather conditions the lawn would require watering and reseeding.

Can the product be used alongside your Grass Green fertiliser - if so how long should I leave between applying this product and grass green and which order should I use them in if purchasing both?

We would advise to use the Iron Sulphate first before applying a fertiliser to your grass.

If you are treating Moss use late winter to early spring for the best results. When treating for turf hardening or grass greening this can be applied every 6 weeks all year but not when frosty or in hot dry conditions.

Is iron sulphate suitable to use on tarmac paths

The manufacturer confirm this product is not suitable to use on a tarmac path.

Is this suitable to treat and remove red thread?

No, it will not kill red thread which is a fungus.

No, we would always recommend getting the lawn well established first. Wait at least 2 months before the application.

Should I use Iron Sulphate on recently germinated grass which is yellow and not thriving. Our soil is thin and sandy. We have had rain almost every day since it was planted in August so that's not the problem. A. DODD.

This product is ideal for Grass Greening 1-2g per 1 litre of water per square metre of grass & for turf hardening 2-3g per 1 litre of water per square metre.

We have new turf. It’s been down for nine months and is established. However it was laid on clay soil, I can only assume that due to poor drainage this has caused my lawn to start sprouting mushrooms everywhere. Will this product, or can you recommend a product that I can use to rid myself of these mushrooms?

No, this product will not eliminate the mushrooms on your lawn. You would need to scarify the lawn.
