How does it work?
- The Glyphosate works to get into the roots of weeds from the stalk and leaves and targets the enzymes of the plant/weed in question, turning the weed red, then yellow then death will follow shortly.

Dilution rates:
- Mix 100ml of Gallup Hi-Aktiv Weed Killer with 5 litres of water.

What is the difference between this and Gallup 360 Biograde Glyphosat?
The Gallup 490 is the stronger product and contains 490g of Glyphosate per litre of solution and the Gallup 360 contains 260g of Glyphosate per litre.

Hi, my neighbour has a bamboo bush in his front garden area, the troops have spread onto my property and has lifted some of my block paving the roots are visible in numerous places, my neighbour has had the bamboo cut to stumps and apparently having it treated to kill it off, can I put your product on the roots to kill them offf?
The weed killer would have to be absorbed through any upper foliage and work down to the root system. If the weed killer is applied directly onto the soil, it will break down and become inert, which may not kill the roots.
Is there a accurate dispensing tool available for the top of the 5 litre bottle. The reason for my question is, I have a 2 litre capacity sprayer.
This can be poured into your 2 litre sprayer and then applied . The 5 litre container does not come with a spray nozzle.

Yes, but please be careful not to apply to your field or plants as this is a total weed killer. Mix 176ml in 10l water and soak the foliage fully so this will get to the roots.

This is a very strong total weed killer but id only applied to the ivy foliage then the hedge would not be damaged.
Can you use this in a watering can if you throw it away afterwards?
It would be more effective if applied with a sprayer than with a watering can.
Hi I can’t make sense of this product, I normally use Gallup home and garden 360. Have just received this hi-aktiv but on packaging only mentions crop and crop protection. I intend to use it for mares tail, bindweed, dandelions, ivy etc general hardy weeds. Is this as good as the 360? Also how much per litre do I use? For a strong mix last but not least does it stay active on block paving if it was to spray it all.

I’m constantly fighting various new trees trying to root in between my rose bushes and all along paths around the garden. So far I’ve just been cutting them back to ground level but my gardener advised me to get your 490, cut the tops off the tree-shoots to expose the interior, then paint the entire length of the stalk, avoiding other plants and shrubs.
What do you reckon on this idea and would I use 10ml per litre, or would you recommend more?

Can hiactiv be injected into the shoots(lowest 2 rings) of Japanese knotweed to kill it effectively. I have done it in full concentration and 50:50 solution of it on the foliage and exterior of the shoots. It’s been 3 day the leaves seem to look weak and falling off and the shoots turned dark green. Is it normal or have I done too much that the leaves died off to quick before the herbicide is absorbed into the roots

I have sprayed the 50:50 mix to the Japanese weed foliage and shoots also to the surrounding grass areas about 3 meters from the knotweed’s crown, coz there were few of its young shoots popping up, I don’t care for the grass and other small plant, as to send maximum herbicide to knotweeds roots as quickly as possible. Should I respect before all its leaves fall off? Should I clear the fallen leaves and flowers, as I fear it will regrow from there.

The best method of application is with a pump sprayer as a watering can will apply too much water to the weed so it runs off the leaf into the soil. A watering can would require a larger nozzle head.

The manufacturer confirm that the Gallup Hi-Activ 490 is best applied when temp is over 8 degrees. For the best results with black bamboo they suggest a 50/50 water & product and apply with a paintbrush.

The manufacturer advises this is dependant on the size of the treated area and weather conditions. The product will kill the roots and de-activates once it hits the soil. But may need to be re-applied. Livestock can go back after 5 days following the treatment and animals after the product dries.

This is a total weed killer and will kill anything it touches. If you are really careful and only apply to the foliage on the weeds and not the Leylandyi or the trees the product can be applied. Do not spray and apply or brush onto the weeds.
