Tubular Heaters
These low-energy heaters are a fantastic energy-efficient way to keep frost and damp at bay in areas where it is not always possible to install a traditional radiator such as closets, sheds or greenhouses.
Tubular Heaters
Tubular heaters are a fantastic addition to those small areas around the home or garden, that can be subject to frost or damp such as closets, sheds or greenhouses where having traditional heating installations such as radiators isn’t away possible. They are also a popular choice due to the fact they are incredibly cost-effective to run as they only use around the same amount of energy as a lightbulb!
What are Tubular Heaters Used for?
It is first important to understand that tubular heaters are different to normal panel heaters and radiator in that they are not designed to be a primary source of heating and they will not fully heat rooms up. So, what are Tubular heaters used for? They are primarily used for three main functions:
Frost Protection
One of the most common uses for these heaters is installing them in outbuildings or greenhouses in order to protect their contents from cold temperatures. Things such as plants, or even cleaning supplies can be affected by frost resulting in plants dying and chemicals being affected and no longer working as they should. Tubular heaters will prevent the temperature in these areas from dropping below zero and therefore protecting the content.
Damp and Mildew Protection
Similar to frost protection, these heater are also a great solution for protection against damp and mildew. Areas around the home such as sheds, garage or even cupboards that are unheated can become vulnerable to damp and mildew which can lead to a whole host of other problems. With the installation of a tubular heater you can keep the temperatures from dropping below zero and keep moisture at bay.
Background Heat
While tubular heaters can’t provide enough heat to warm a whole room by themselves, they are a fantastic companion to traditional heating to help boost heat in larger rooms that may struggle maintain their temperature, or rooms with large windows such as conservatories that can suffer from drafts.
Energy Efficient
One of the greatest features of tubular heaters is their low energy consumption, making them a great cost-effective heating solution as they are only providing low level heat they use around the same amount of energy as a light bulb.
Compact Design
While tubular heaters are available in a wide range of different sizes from 1ft to 6ft, their designs remain consistently compact, so you won’t lose out of large amounts of space with these heaters, and they can fit discreetly beneath window sills or around skirting boards.

They can also be safely installed in bathrooms to help add additional heat and fight off damp and mildew.

Tubular heaters are also available with protective guards. The metal guards are simple and easy to install. They are great for stopping accidental damage, by providing a robust protective surround, whilst great for allowing heat to pass into the room with its grill design.
