Rates of Application
The area of effect that each fumer can effectively cover varies depending on the type of insect you’re trying to treat. One fumer can cover an area of;
- 34 Cubic metres for bed bugs, ants and cockroaches
- 164 Cubic metres for fleas and carpet moths
- 548 Cubic metres for other flying insects
How to Use
- Before treatment, ensure drawers and wardrobes etc are emptied and left open to ensure maximum coverage.
- Ensure all windows and doors are closed.
- Place the smoke bomb on a heat resistant surface in the centre of the room and light the wick.
- Leave the room and close the door. If possible, block up any gaps in the door frame.
- Wait for at least 3 hours.
- Re-enter the room and ventilate by opening any windows. You may see some bugs openly crawling or flying around – this is normal. The insecticide in the smoke works by attacking the insect’s brain, so it leads to confusion and erratic movement before death.

Did the job for cluster flies in the attic. Used 3 in a very large attic of a 4 bedroom house with an extension (inc more roof space). Flies starting kicking off in February after a warmish summer day. These foggers did the job in one go. Make sure you do not use them on a windy day as this may lessen the effect in an attic.

Please do not place the fumer in the piano; place it on a heat-resistant tray or plate in the centre of the room; light the paper wick and leave the room for 3 hours. Return and ventilate the treated area. This will not damage the strings in any way.

Carpet beetles are usually present between April to October each year. They are more prominent in May, June, and October after the eggs have hatched. Please repeat the treatment until they are eliminated. Do they also return to the same location on your property?
I have silverfish problem, and they came from attic. The attic is ca 40m square, and is covered by insulation fabric. how many fumer should I use to kill silverfish ?and do I need to take away all the insulation material before using?
Please investigate the leak in the attic to locate the area of the damp. Please remove the insulation material before using the fumers. The 16g fumers would be the size required.

Is it safe to use around food? Ie bags of food or containers that may not be fully airtight? If the smoke is in contact with the food, is the food then considered toxic?
Yes, they can be used in the kitchen. Please remove any open packets and dispose. Place any unopened food into sealed containers in another room. After treatment please wipe down any areas where food preparation is made.

You would need to remove your cat from the studio that you need to treat. After 3 hours return to the studio and ventilate the area below letting your cat return to the room. You can sleep in the treated room after following the instructions and fully ventilating the room.

I think I have carpet beetle from a wasps nest we had, I have been finding them in the bathrooms and the odd one or two I other rooms of the house, I have children and pets, a bird, hamster and fish what would you recommend I use to get rid of the beetles please

These Fumers will kill any flying or crawling insects that are in the room when the treatment is applied. After a minimum of 3 hours return and ventilate the room. This will leave a residue that is safe for adults, children & pets. You can wipe down your children's toys if required but it is not necessary.
Hi how do I treat a chicken coop with the smoke bombs? The bedroom area is enclosed however the outside area is completely open just with chicken wire will the smoke still be able to work?

No product can kill the egg until it hatches due to it been sealed. You do not need to cover your electrical appliances.
Would these be suitable for use in a chip boarded loaf for an investation of flies? Also is the smoke likely to be of a quantity that seeped out of the roof causing concern with neighbours?
These can be used in a loft but must be on a heat resistant tray or plate away from any flammable items. If the roof is fully sealed no smoke should seep out.

Although we cannot advise you to kill spiders, this product will kill most crawling and flying insects, including arachnids.
When opening drawers etc do the bombs leave residue on clothing that's harmful to children with eczema ?
We would recommend emptying all drawers and wardrobes before using them. Wash your clothes on the highest temperature setting instead to kill any pests that might be hiding in them.

To treat a roof space the easiest way is with Fortefog Fumers, remember to use the correct number of fumers based on 1 16g fumer for each 34m³. To treat the rest of the house, if these beetles have come down out of the roof space, a regular spray treatment should be carried out to wall/floor junctions with a residual insecticide over a period of about three months, we would recommend Protector C or Biopren. Remember, spray kills the adults and the larvae but it doesn't kill the egg or the pupae, so the treatment has to be carried out over a period of time so that it gives the eggs and pupae a chance to become larvae or adults and thus be susceptible to the spray.

I have not been able to locate the actual nest but there is definitely one there. Using powders or sprays is problematic, without location. Can the bombs alone reach the queens deep in the nest?
The best time to treat a wasps nest is at night when they are less aggressive. Leave the treated area at least 24 hours.
We getting bitten by invisible insects / mites. It starts beginning of July and lasts for 6 weeks. The rest of the year nothing. I have tried flea spray from the vets but still bitten but not as much. Don’t what it is or where it is.

Hi, we have discovered an infestation of grain weevils. As these are in our food cupboards what happens to food when using the smoke bomb? I see we have to remove any open food but what about containers or bottles with food produce in them? And will any residue remain on the containers if we leave them in the room?
Grain weevils are found in dry foods including seeds, cereal, nuts and grain products. Yes, they can be used in the kitchen. Please remove any open packets before treatment. However, we would advise you to wash any containers and also areas where food preparation is made after using the smoke bombs.

The clothes can be left in the room at the time of the treatment with your wardrobe and drawers left open so that the smoke can circulate around the room. When removing your clothes to wash please place into a bin bag to transfer to your washing machine.

Clothes can remain in the treated area but any opened food packets should be removed prior to treating the room. Any dishes that come into contact with the smoke should be washed afterwards, so if you want to avoid doing this, remove before use. The fumer is for indoor use, so should not come into contact with fruits outside. Ensure windows and doors are closed for up to three hours, until the smoke has disappeared.
Hello, I do hope you can help me. I have a problem with tiny white mites, look like grains of dust, I bought a bag of threads online a year ago they did smell quite foisty, after placing them in the attic was when I began to notice these bloody pests,I've tried all.sorts, red raid spray only seems to work. Will these smoke bombs kill them off too.

The Fortefog fumers would be suitable to get rid of the white mites. However, we would also recommend using them in conjunction with the Protector C spray. Retreating every 7 - 10 days until the infestation has cleared is also strongly recommended.

They will kill any woodworm on the surface of the wood, but woodworm can run deep into the wood fibres, and usually require professional treatment to get rid of it fully.
