If you’re looking for something to help keep you cool this summer then no doubt you’re considering getting a fan, as they’re the most cost-effective way to keep your home at a comfortable temperature. But the question is; which type of fan should you buy?
When you start to research the different types of fans, most retailers will give you plenty of information on how their fans perform; after all, keeping you cool is the most important consideration, but is it the only criteria you demand? We believe that other factors beyond simple functionality are important to people, and when you take a look at some of them, a tower fan becomes an obvious choice.
Here are some reasons why you should choose a tower fan, based not only on how they work but how they sound, and how they look.
How tower fans work
Tower fans are, as the name suggests, long and tall. Height varies but tower fans can be anything from 29 inches tall to 48 inches. This gives them a much longer surface area, allowing it to move air from the floor up to its full height – a perfect range for when seated or laying down so ideal for living rooms and bedrooms.
Many come with a range of features such as timers, and different speed and oscillation settings. This means that you can really easily vary the performance according to the temperature. With a remote control, you can even do this from the comfort of your seat or bed!
Tower fans are also very practical: they’re light and portable so can be moved from room to room and they have a small footprint so easy to accommodate, even if you have limited space.
How tower fans sound
One thing that sometimes deters people from using a fan is the noise that they make as it can be a little irritating, especially if you’re trying to sleep, watch TV, or listen to music. One of the biggest advantages that tower fans have over other models is that their blades are on the inside of the unit. While no fan will ever be silent, this means that the outer casing of the unit serves to muffle the sound, resulting in a much quieter fan.
How tower fans look
Remember as a child when your mum would tell you that “it’s not what you look like, it’s whether you’re warm” when you didn’t want to wear a coat out? Well, the same train of thought could suggest that it’s not what a fan looks like but whether it keeps you cool that’s important. Maybe so, but just as you felt your mum was wrong about the coat, most of us believe that the objects you have in your home should ideally look aesthetically pleasing, even if they are functional items.
This is what a tower fan can give you. As well as being really effective, tower fans look incredibly stylish. Due to their tall, slimline form, they have an understated, minimalistic design. They also come in a range of colours including white, black and silver so you can choose one that either blends in or contrasts with your décor, whichever is your preference.
Tower fans have a contemporary, industrial look and while a very tall, slim model, such as the MYLEK slimline tower fan, can be very discreet in your home, others such as the MYLEK Cyclops tower fan can make a real statement of modernity.
Tower fans are therefore a great choice for those who demand performance but also place a high value on aesthetics.
