Before Getting Started
A few things to bear in mind before getting started first of all have patience, some lingering odours may not disappear with one clean and will require multiple treatments especially if you are attempting to clean heavily soiled grass. Create a Care Routine

You should also consider including a monthly deep clean that will include using detergent and checking the area for any weeds. Once you have a routine down pat your lawn will look clean and smell fresh making maintaining it easier as you will not need to devote hours to removing dirt from heavily soiled areas.

Continuing to follow the same train of thought that your artificial lawn is a carpet – it is also important to not let fallen debris sit on your lawn for long periods of time. Use a brush to sweep away any debris that can make your grass look untidy. This is especially important during autumn periods as fallen leaves that are left to rot on the surface will cause unsightly stains that can be a nuisance to remove. If you are able to catch a stain in time then do not put off a cleaning, make sure to use a solution of water and detergent to thoroughly clean the area, and use a soft bristle brush to agitate the dirt and prevent it from clinging to the fibres. Make a pre-mixed solution and keep it in a spray bottle so you can quickly treat these areas. A good tip is to think of your artificial grass as more of a carpet than a lawn – you wouldn’t allow a stain to sit on your carpet to set so treat your lawn the same way.
Use Detergents Designed for Artificial Lawns
In order to ensure you are thoroughly cleaning and protecting your lawn it is important that you invest in cleaning products specifically designed for this purpose. Other cleaners can be too harsh and may cause some of the fibres to deteriorate resulting in your lawn looking patchy.
