Pests are sometimes nothing more than a frustration when they show up in your home, but some pests can actually be very dangerous. Here are some of the most dangerous pests in the world – including some that might be sharing your home right now.

The Sydney Funnel-Web

Household pests don't get more dangerous than the Sydney Funnel-Web (Atrax robustus). Fortunately, you don't have to worry about this spider unless you live in Australia.
It's venom is highly toxic, and it is delivered in large amounts through its huge fangs. It is the deadliest spider in the country, and it is found in forests and populated areas throughout New South Wales. Although it's bite can kill, an anti-venom is available – phew!

WASPS

Compared to the Sydney Funnel-Web, wasps don't seem too bad, but these common household pets can be incredibly dangerous.
While the worst that most people will experience is a painful sting, things get a lot more serious if you happen to be allergic to wasp stings. In this case, you risk anaphylaxis and even death from just a single sting.
Wasps nests are often found in attics, and disturbing a nest can cause the wasps to attack. That's why you should always ensure you use effective pest control for wasps and follow the instructions carefully.

Kissing Bugs, or Triatominae, are found throughout Latin America, and they are known for spreading Chagas disease. Millions of people are infected with this throughout the region.
The bugs live in thatched roofs and mud walls, and they are therefore more common in poorer areas. Once infected, symptoms of Chagas include fever and headaches, but these are often mistaken for something else. The disease can then lie dormant for years or even decades before killing the victim.

Common household flies are a daily nuisance for millions of people. Although the flies themselves are not dangerous, they can carry dozens of germs on them, many of which can cause diseases including tuberculosis and polio.
Make sure they do not come into contact with your food, and treat them with effective fly control measures to reduce the risk of getting ill.
