Spring is coming and that means it’s almost hot tub season. Most hot tub owners understand the importance of getting their water balanced just right and therefore are stocking up on products like chlorine and pH adjusters but there’s more to hot tub management than just water quality.

Here is our guide to the items you need that you may have overlooked.

System Flush Cleaner

If you left water in your hot tub over the winter, rather than complete a full winterisation process before closing it up (which is entirely fine to do), you will need to give it some TLC to get it ready for use again. This means eradicating any bacteria, limescale, and the general contaminants that end up in your water (hair, skin, body products etc) from the areas you cannot see – such as pipes, pumps, filters etc. This requires a system flush to effectively clean away the build-up, for this you need a System Flush Cleaner.

You will just need to add system flush cleaner to the water (ensuring the water is deep enough to cover the jets), and then run the hot tub for 15-30 minutes so that the product flows through the pipes, flushing out any impurities.

It is recommended to repeat this process every 3 months, so it’s worth stocking up.

Instant Filter Cleaner

The value of keeping your filters clean speaks for itself really. Your filters cannot do their job of keeping the water clean, once they are clogged up with all the particles they’ve removed (which is the nature of their job of course). The standard method of cleaning filters requires you to remove them and soak them overnight in a Filter Cleaner. This is a great way to clean filters, but it does put the hot tub out of action for the night.

Waterline and Surface Cleaner

You know about cleaning the visible surfaces of a hot tub of course but did you realise that you shouldn’t go scrubbing away with any old household cleaner? Hot tub shells are more delicate than you might think so anything abrasive could cause scratches but you still need something that will tackle the kinds of dirt and contaminants that it comes into contact with. 

Hot Tub Waterline and Surface Cleaners are designed precisely for the job.
